1. Alia Atkinson named Sportswoman of the Year
Alia Atkinson of Jamaica has been named the RJR's Sports Foundation National Sportswoman of the Year. Atkinson was the first non-track and field athlete to win the Sportswoman of the Year award since 1976. Last year, Alia Atkinson made an historic performance at the World Champions SC, where she became the first black female world swimming champion and also snagged Jamaica's first gold in swimming championships. 

2. Emma Watson Takes HeforShe to Twitter and Gives Sound Advice 
Emma Watson, who gave one of the most powerful speeches of 2014, recently took to Twitter to connect with her fans and answered some questions about the HeforShe Campaign, during which she delivered some sound advice on equality for men and women. Her best advice was given to a young girl who was unsure about becoming an engineer because her father said it was a man's profession - -Buzzfeed
3. Viola Davis Tear-Jerking Speech
How to Get Away with Murder star, Viola Davis won the 2015 Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for outstanding female actor in a drama series and gave one of the most emotional and powerful acceptance speech we love. Listen to the full speech below.





4. Uzo Abuda's Big Win at the 2015 SAG Awards
Uzo Aduba of Orange is the New Black, had a big night at the SAG Awards on Sunday night, who walked away with the award for best Actor in a comedy series. Her win which didn't come as a surprise for some, it came as a surprise for Uzo who seemingly had to pinch herself to make sure her big win was real. Her powerful speech was one thing that had us, but nothing could bet the gifs and the facial expressions of the star.


And her fun interview on the Late Night with Seth Meyers was incredible. 



5. Miss Colombia is the New Miss Universe and #MissJamaicaShouldHaveWon 
On Sunday January 25, Paula Vega of Colombia was crowned Miss Universe. But the audible boos and the hashtag trend #MissJamaicaShouldHaveWon after Miss Jamaica, Kaci Fennell was named 4th runner up, is what many remember from the show. So what's the controversy, many are saying Miss Jamaica the confident beauty, who should have won and it was her short hair that made her stand apart, which was a factor that made her not being crowned. The views of beauty standards and diversity are hot topics around the competition and why Miss Fennell didn't win. Your views?





6. Serena Williams Wins her 19th Championship Title
